Niantic Bank History

The State Bank of Niantic was established September 11,1890. The bank began as Wree, Jacobsen & Company with capital of $6,000 invested by George Wree, Henning Jacobsen, and Herman Nottleman.
During October 1893, Mr. Jacobsen and Mr. Nottleman sold their interest to Mr. Wree and the firm's name changed to Wree, Pritchett & Company. On July 1, 1915, the bank was incorporated as The State Bank of Niantic.
Waller Pritchett is the Grandfather of Carl Pritchett, Jr. and Herschel Pritchett (retired former presidents). Herschel Pritchett continues to serve as a director of the bank.
During the 1930's, S. Joe Scott began his banking career at the State Bank of Niantic. S. Joe Scott is the father of Sam Scott, current Chairman of our board.
The bank was purchased by Scott Bancshares, Inc. in 1985 and has remained an independent bank, with the same strong commitment to the community.
